06 Jul Successful Site Visit for K2
“High praise and highly impressed” – this is how a top-class, international group of experts rated the successful work of VIRTUAL VEHICLE. Based on the successful interim evaluation, the “K2 Digital Mobility” programme will now be extended for another five years. This is a pleasing signal for the domestic research landscape: COMET funding thus lays the foundation for VIRTUAL VEHICLE to produce an expected total research output of around 125 million euros over the next five years. In scientific terms, the coming years will be dominated by the topics of “Software Defined Systems”, “Green Mobility” and “Integrated Transport”.
VIRTUAL VEHICLE is now building on these successes with its priorities for the second funding period: Until 2026, key technologies for “Software Defined Systems”, “Green Mobility” and “Integrated Transport” are to be advanced. The research areas of electrification, automation, digitalisation and standardisation address key challenges of the European Commission’s “European Green Deal”. VIRTUAL VEHICLE CEO Jost Bernasch comments: “Above all, the challenge will be to develop efficient, safe, human-centred and complex systems that are increasingly defined by software.”
