Visit of NZZ / Handelsblatt Germany at VIRTUAL VEHICLE

The VIRTUAL VEHICLE Research Centre pulled out all the technological stops to present the latest developments in future mobility to the correspondent of the NZZ and the German Handelsblatt, Daniel Imwinkelried (2 from right). On the initiative of the Austrian Business Association (ABA) under the leadership of Hanni Grassauer (Creative Solutions , centre), a visit to AVL in the morning was followed by an exciting tour through the research areas, which VIRTUAL VEHICLE Managing Director Dr. Jost Bernasch (right) put together for the guests. The Austrian test region for autonomous driving ALP-Lab made an appearance, as did the DriveLAB under the leadership of Dr. Paolo Pretto, the SPIDER research robot under Dr. Christian Schwarzl, which was recently awarded the prestigious Houska Prize, and the Automated Drive Demonstrators demonstrated by Dr. Allan Tengg (3rd from left) and his team. A test drive with the new technology carrier ZeroOne was the worthy conclusion. This lightweight, all-electric vehicle for the urban traffic of the future offers a completely new type of driver interaction in which a steering wheel was deliberately dispensed with: The ZeroOne is controlled by joystick, gestures and, in the future, also by voice control, and thus serves as a unique “Living Innovation Lab” for the future interior design of all-electric vehicles.
