FR8RAIL IV is not only the biggest but the last one from a series of rail freight innovation projects in Europe and all partners presented their results at the final event in Frankfurt.
It was discussed about the difficulties of Digital Couplers in the harsh scandinavian winter, about condition-based maintenance for e.g. diesel-particle filters and many more things.

The Core Market Wagon is an innovative wagon concept, equipped with the latest running gear (CAF SiSet Silent Wheelset and axle), a Digital Automated Coupler, and a Telematic & Electrification Setup including the PJ Messtechnik GmbH / PJ Monitoring GmbH WaggonTracker ADV, the PJM Load Monitoring System, an AC2T research GmbH – Austrian Competence Center for Tribology Humidity Sensor in Axle Bearing (HSAB) and the Virtual Vehicle Research GmbH DATA.BEAM.

VIRTUAL VEHICLE provided a multi-sensor system for reliable measuring, that enables recording and preprocessing of track and vehicle data. This data will be further processed and used for simulation, as an example to provide valid decision basis for condition based maintenance.
