Digitalisation, Automatisation and Decarbonisation are major trends that will drastically change the way we live, work and use mobility and transport in the future. Under the heading of “A digital Era for Transport”, the Transport Research Arena 2018 (TRA 2018) to be held on 16-19th April in Vienna, Austria, will explore, discuss and demonstrate these major paradigm shifts specifically directed at important areas of our life, such as transport, mobility, logistics and industrial production.

Topic

TRA 2018 is an arena for researchers, companies and public authorities active in the field of transport. It welcomes policy makers and stakeholders framing research and transport policy. Together they will share and discuss new ideas, research results, technological solutions and new business models. Together they will experience and shape the future of transport and mobility for people and goods.

Key focus areas will be:

  • How digitalisation is transforming transport & mobility systems
  • Decarbonisation & future growth – how to change our mobility system & remain competitive
  • Shaping the new mobility landscape – a vision for transport & mobility for Europe

 

VIRTUAL VEHICLES’s participation at the TRA

VIRTUAL VEHICLE Automated Drive Demonstrator: Looking at the technology roadmap the next tech- and mind-shift challenge is autonomous driving. In this showcase VIRTUAL VEHICLE presents an electric vehicle with ADAS functions implemented. An ADD Onboard Monitor shows what HD cameras, radar sensors and object analysis detect. In addition it demonstrates how Advanced Control, Driving Monitoring, Collision Detection and Self-Diagnostic work.

VIRTUAL VEHICLE Wheel-Railroad Track Demonstrator: The rail demonstrator enables the visualization of the wheel – railroad track contact. Depending on the speed the demonstrator shows different damage effects such as temperature development, crack formation, wear and tear. The speed is individually adjustable.

Live Experience Autonomous Driving: Have a ride with our Automated Drive Demonstrator at a test track near the Vienna harbor.  Topics such as safety-critical driver assistance features, active safety systems, high performance on-board computers, environmental sensor technology and human-machine interface are shown during the test drive.

 

In addition further research results with VIRTUAL VEHICLE participation will be presented at different EU project booths:

  • EARPA: Exhibition of the jointly developed wood car.
  • EU-LIVE: Exhibition of the jointly developed L5e-category electrified mobility solution.
  • DEWI: Videos of the “Staatspreis Mobilität” winner and nominees.
  • REWARD / diper: Presentation of a Real Driving Emission concept with exhibition of two demonstrator: Renault Kadjar & Volvo XC60

Furthermore, several VIRTUAL VEHICLE experts will give specialist presentations during the scientific conference.
