Reliable simulation as key for rail systems and autonomous vehicles
Complex systems such as cooling circuits, predictive maintenance in turnout systems or tests of autonomous vehicles can be mapped at VIRTUAL VEHICLE using high-quality and trustworthy simulations. As part of the ORF program “Styria Today”, moderator Oliver Zeisberger received insights into our work and talked, amongst others, with CEO Jost Bernasch: “The development in the mobile and rail sector is becoming increasingly complex, let’s just think of new driving assistance systems or autonomous driving in the future. These systems are so complex that they cannot be fully tested in reality. It is therefore essential for the industry to combine virtual development and simulations of such complex systems so that they can survive in global competition”, said Bernasch.
It is also crucial that simulation saves millions of test kilometers on the road and that potentially dangerous situations can be avoided. ORF Steiermark’s report provides an insight into the daily work of VIRTUAL VEHICLE. It shows the development and research platform “Drive.LAB” as well as the mobile hardware-in-the-loop (Mobile HiL) platform SPIDER and an autonomous vehicle (automated drive demonstrator) in action on the test site.
