Methodologies for acoustic particle velocity measurement

MSc Thesis (Ref.C_039)

In the framework of an ongoing R&D project, a unique test bench for acoustic characterisation of poro-elastic liners has been designed. In order to assess the acoustic impedance of porous materials both sound pressure and particle velocity have to be measured. The MSc candidate will first investigates the state-of-the-art in particle velocity measurements and second, analyses new strategies for the experimental determination of particle velocity. In order to achieve the objectives, he/she will conduct analytical and numerical investigations under the supervision of qualified experts.

Your duties and responsibilities:

  • Design, preparation and execution of acoustic measurements
  • Numerical and analytical modelling of acoustic problems
  • Data evaluation using Matlab or Python
  • Reporting and presentation of results
